Determined, hardworking and bold are all ways, model, actress, producer, designer and entrepreneur Draya Michele can be described. Over the last few years, Draya has made a name for herself as being one of the most in-demand talents in the entertainment and apparel industry.
On the TV front, she made her first scripted-acting debut in 2015 on TV One’s “Will to Love” opposite Keshia Knight-Pulliam and Marques Houston. With 2016 becoming a banner year for Draya in film, she recently held a supporting role in “The Perfect Match” [Lionsgate], opposite Terrence Jenkins and Paula Patton and will soon be seen alongside Vivica A. Fox in the indie film “True to the Game.” Draya is also starring in and producing scripted and unscripted television and social media content under her and manager Max Gousse’s Speed Limit banner.
In 2011, Draya launched her upscale swimwear line, Mint Swim, which has since grown to be a multi-million-dollar brand. The motivation behind the brand was sparked by a desire to align opulent sophistication with contemporary modern chic, making the product ideal for the everyday woman. Draya is the lead designer behind Mint Swim and hand-selects each fabric, color, and does all the original sketch work for the designs. In 2015, Mint Swim expanded to offer plus sizes and children’s swimwear and the colossal demand of Draya’s expanding business continues to advance her into new entrepreneurial ventures.
On the philanthropic front, Draya has a passion for causes geared toward guiding and encouraging young people, particularly in the realm of education. She recently donated money and spent time volunteering at Optimal Christian Academy in Compton to help rebuild their playground and often supports the charity, Headbands for Hope, which helps to provide positive self-identity and bring confidence and support to children going through cancer treatment.
